Struble Family

Moses Struble was born Feb. 18, 1805. He married Gerusha Bartholomau who was born in 1815 in Pennsylvania.

Moses & Gurusha Struble had at least 8 children:

Sally Jane was born Sept. 21, 1837 in PA. She died Sept. 25, 1921 in Kalamazoo.
Allen was born in 1841 in NY. He died in 1922.
Elizabeth was born in 1845 in NY. She died A pr. 16, 1925 in South Bend and is buried in Kalamazoo.
Henry was born in 1849 in NY.
Amanda was born March 11, 1854. She died Oct. 29, 1920.
Emily was born in 1857 in NY. She died Sept. 24, 1921 in Battle Creek.
Levi was born in 1856. He died Feb. 10, 1923. Levi married Etta Adel Sager Oct. 6, 1878 in Kalamazoo, MI. Etta Adel was born April 17, 1861 in Kalamazoo, MI. She died May 13, 1931. Levi and Etta Adel are both buried in the Covert Cemetery.
Samuel was born March 18, 1836 in Pennsylvania. He died May 27, 1907 in Covert Township of cancer of the liver. His occupation was a farmer. Samuel married Madaline Strong. Madaline was born February 27, 1844 in New York. She died February 7, 1922 in the Village of Bangor, Michigan of apoplexy. Samuel and Madaline are both buried in the Covert Cemetery, Lot #199 per funeral records at the Covert Township Hall. There are no headstones or markers.

Samuel & Madaline Struble had at least 6 sons and 2 daughters: Moses, John H., Earnest, Charles Orr, William Walter, Leonard, Minnie and Lillie.

John H. was born in 1866 in Covert, MI. He died March 26, 1946. He married Gertrude Burten on Jan. 6, 1892 in Hartford, MI. They were married by a Justice of the Peace. John was 25 and Gertrude was 18-both were from Covert when married. John’s occupation was farming. Gertrude’s parents were Charles Burten, who was born in New York & Mary Larupsour (sp?) who was born in Michigan. Gertrude was born in 1873 in New York. She died September 13, 1925 of cerebral hemorrhage in Geneva Township, Michigan. John and Gertrude are buried in the Covert Cemetery.               Moses was born in 1868. He died August 3, 1942. Moses married Lotta Hardy on July 12, 1885 in Covert, MI. They were married by a Clergyman. Moses was 26, Lotta was 19. Lotta was born in Ohio in 1875. She died September 5, 1961. Moses and Lotta are buried in the Covert Cemetery.
Earnest was born in 1870. He died December 12, 1949. Earnest married Rose Letson on July 21, 1894 in Covert, MI. They were married by a Justice of the Peace. Earnest was 23 and his occupation was a farmer. Rose was 18. Rose was born in Michigan March 30, 1876. Her father was Osburn Letson who was born in New York and her mother’s maiden name was Sarah Young who was born in Michigan. Rose died in Covert of a hemorrhage on April 12, 1917.  Earnest and Rose are buried in the Covert Cemetery.
Charles was born May 23, 1875 in Deerfield, MI. He died February 25, 1947. Charles married Clara Jane Castor June 30, 1897 in Covert. They were married by a Justice of the Peace. Charles was 21 and Clara was 19. Their witnesses were John & Mary Castor. Charles occupation was a farmer. Clara was born November 3, 1877. She died December 26, 1915 in Covert of acute dilation of the heart. Charles and Clara are buried in the Covert Cemetery, Lot #346.
William Walter was born in 1882. He died March 27, 1942. William married Lillie Burnham October 5, 1895 in Covert, MI. They were married by a Justice of the Peace. William was 23 and his occupation was a farmer. Lillie was 19. Earnest & Rose Struble were their witnesses. Lillie was born September 17, 1886. She died in Bangor of myocardial failure July 20, 1964 although she was still residing in Covert. William and Lillie are buried in the Covert Cemetery.
Leonard was born in 1878. He died May 1, 1918 in South Haven, Michigan in an auto accident. His occupation was a farmer. Leonard is buried in the Covert Cemetery, Lot #199 which has no marker.
Lillie J. was born September 17, 1885 in Covert, MI. She died November 2, 1886 in Covert of diphtheria. Lillie is buried in the Covert Cemetery.

Old Covert Resident Dies In Watervliet

COVERT, Feb. 26—Charles Struble, 71, life-time Covert resident and retired farmer, died at 11:15 p. m. Tuesday at the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. Joseph O'Riley, in Watervliet. He had been in failing health for a year but had been ill but a few days. The son of Covert pioneers, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Struble, he was born in this community on May 25, 1875. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Floyd Frazee, Watervliet, and Mr. Howard Myers of South Haven; a son, Edward, in Elkhart, Ind., a sister, Mrs. Lyman Morgan, Battle Creek; a brother, Ernest Struble, Battle Creek; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The body was removed today from the Calvin funeral home in Hartford to the Calvin funeral home in Covert. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p. m. at the Covert Congregational church with burial in the cemetery here. The Rev. William Goltz will officiate.
