Escaped Mental Patient Attacks DuPage Deputies Charles F. Collins, 26, an escaped patient from the Elgin State hospital, last, Friday attacked and injured two sheriff's deputies a short time after he had been captured and taken to the DuPage county jail at Wheaton. The deputies, John Albrecht, Wheaton and Chief Jailer William Holzkopf, Westmont, went into Collins' cell when he began creating a disturbance. He rushed the deputies and smashed their glasses before he was subdued. Both men suffered cuts about their eyes, but fortunately neither was seriously hurt. Collins, who was picked up earlier last Friday in a Wheaton service station, is now back in the hospital and being questioned about the theft of an Elgin auto on April 16, the day on which he escaped.
